A microATX motherboard is a compact version of an ATX motherboard. It’s designed to fit in smaller cases and is often used in budget-friendly and mid-range builds. 

Features:

  • Size: MicroATX motherboards are 9.6 in x 9.6 in (244 mm x 244 mm) 
  • RAM slots: Typically have four RAM slots and support at least 64 GB 
  • PCI-E slots: Usually have one PCI-E slot, but some models have up to three 
  • Ports and connectors: Have fewer USB, SATA ports, and M.2 slots than ATX motherboards 

Benefits: More energy-efficient than ATX motherboards, Quieter than ATX motherboards, and Compatible with most mainstream components. 

Limitations: 

  • Less room for customization and expansion
  • May have compatibility issues with some high-end or oversized components
